Call for applications for III International Film Festival for Children and Youth "Hero" is open

Call for applications for III International Film Festival for Children and Youth "Hero" to be held in five settlements of the Region: Krasnoyarsk, Norilsk, Zelenogorsk, Nazarovo, and Balakhta on May 20-24, 2024 has been announced.
The founder of the Festival is the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region, the organizer is Enisey Kino RSAIC.
Minister of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region Arkady Zinov remarks: “International Film Festival for Children and Youth "Hero" is becoming one of the trademarks of the Krasnoyarsk Region. Moreover, the professional and competitive festival of films produced for the new generation can tackle multiple tasks, including the revival of children’s cinematograph traditions.
International Film Festival “Hero” was initially designed by its organizers as a forum to think over and discuss the topic of spiritual and moral compass, which is one of the critical ones in bringing up the modern generation. All events of the Festival raise the issues of patriotism, traditional values, and the films are selected on the basis of diversity of genres and cultures to represent a hero in all the spheres and genres, including feature, animation, documentary films, as well as a hero in the social sphere.
The competition and non-competition program of for III International Film Festival for Children and Youth "Hero" (May 20-24, 2024) will comprise professional works by Russian and international cinematographers, including full-length and short feature and animation films and documentaries.
During the Festival, workshops, meet-the-artist sessions, lectures for children and teenagers with personal attendance of Russian and foreign guests and speakers, events for the development of professional orientation and media education in the Krasnoyarsk Region. The business program will include a round table with authoritative cinema industry representatives.
Cinemas of the Festival cities will have an exclusive opportunity to demonstrate the best Russian and foreign films of the competition program. The majority of the full-length competing films will be presented personally by their producers. The venues of the Festival will be cultural facilities, libraries, and cinemas.
There is a special "Who Is Your Hero" children’s nomination for participants aged from 8 to 17 inclusively.
Competition program nominations:
- Grand Prix.
- Best full-length feature film for children and youth -
- Best short feature film for children and youth.
- Best full-length animation film for children and youth.
- Best short animation film for children and youth.
- Best documentary film for children and youth.
- Special nomination for children “Who is your hero?”.
- Audience Choice Award.
Within the framework of the non-competition program of the Festival, the following special programs will be presented:
- Program dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of Victor Astafiev consisting of documentary films about the Siberian writer and feature films based on his stories;
- Program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Belarusian cinema, including the best examples of films for children and youth, shot by the studio over a century-old history;

INFORMATION
The Film Festival was first organized in 2018, when it was first held as an All-Russian event. It got the status of an international festival in 2020.
II International Film Festival for Children and Youth "Hero" was held on May 19-23, 2022, in five settlements of the Region: Krasnoyarsk, Norilsk, Divnogorsk, Uzhur, and Aban.
For the third time, the festival comprises as cinema school the students of which will take an active part in the teenagers’ discussion headquarters held after the competition program films. This time, the cinema school began on November 4, 2023. The main objective of the course is to give future cinematographers a full idea of how films are produced.
Let us remind you that last year the cinema school was held too, and some of its alumni continued their training at higher educational institutions of Russia and abroad, studying cinema and cinema industry. This year, the Enisey Kino Cinema School will make an emphasis on the students’ choosing the disciplines they wish to study. In the process of training, the students will shoot their own films they may submit to the Festival “Hero”.
After the end of the Festival, the traditional Echo of the International Festival will take place, which mean that the selected films will be presented all around the Krasnoyarsk Region for a month.
