«Hero: Film School» – 2023

From February 27 to March 3, 2023 was the project «Hero: Film School». These days screenings of the best films of the II International Film Festival for Children and Youth «Hero» – 2022 took place in the Krasnoyarsk region. And the free intensive for children and teenagers «Film School».

The course included two areas of study:

The first is «How to watch a movie». Teacher: Evgeny Maisel, film critic, permanent author and editor of the Art of Cinema magazine, chief editor of old.kinoart.ru, Deputy editor-in-chief of Kinema magazine, teacher at the Moscow School of New Cinema.

«The point is you can watch movies any way you want! You can offer options: study the history of cinema, the cinema language, the director's past paintings, but, fortunately, cinema doesn’t need any specific conditions,» – says Yevgeny Maisel.

The second is «How to make a movie»». Teacher: Gayane Grigoryan, teacher of the «Producer's Skill» direction at TheOneFilm Film School, producer of educational platforms and online film school at the Film Studio Gorky; film and TV producer, project manager in the field of children's film education.

Also, within the framework of «Hero: Film School», a creative meeting was with expert Yevgeny Maisel and students of SibFU and the Siberian State Institute of Arts. Dmitry Hvorostovsky.

Gayane Grigoryan gave a lecture, where they found out who a producer is, what is the difference between different producers and what their role is on the set. We reviewed all stages of film production, focusing on each in detail. At the intensive course for teenagers, teachers and participants also discussed how young people can get into the film industry.

Teacher Gayane Grigoryan introduced the children to useful websites for young filmmakers, which publish information about contests and film festivals for children and teenagers.

 – I am incredibly surprised by the knowledge and abilities of the guys. The children are very prepared! – Gayane shared her observations.

On March 3, 2023 the training ended with a pitching of film projects, where students presented their future films. The winners received valuable prizes for filming – a certificate for equipment rental from the specialized photo and video equipment store «Binar» and «Enisey kino».

The project «Is it weak?» by Alexia Chernykh was also noted by the general producer of the Siberian Author's Cinema, Ulyana Beletskaya. As a prize – technical and consulting support in the implementation of the project.

The project of the author Roman Oyun was noted by the pitching organizers. As a prize – methodological and consulting assistance in the implementation of the animation project «Live».

Alexander Maseikin, General Director of Binar24, addressed all the intensive students: «We are ready to provide each participant of the project with a discount on equipment rental».

And Acting director of the House of Cinema Anna Kozak noted that the House of Cinema will help all participants who will have film projects ready to organize a film screening.

Also, all the participants of the intensive "Yenisei Cinema" provides methodological assistance in the film process.

Irina Belova, General Director of Yenisei Cinema: «It's great that a film school for children and teenagers has appeared at the Hero International Festival. After all, it is very important that the teenage film staff of the festival be created. Now we are starting preparations for the 2024 film festival and from August 27 we are already planning to open the acceptance of applications for participation. Guys, thank you.
