Festival "HERO"

Applications for the III International Film Festival for Children and Youth "Hero" have been accepted

Call for applications for the III International Film Festival for Children and Youth "Hero", that will be held on May 20-24, 2024 in five settlements of the territory, namely, Krasnoyarsk, Norilsk, Zelenogorsk, Nazarovo, and Balakhta, is closed.

Founder of the film festival: The Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, organized by the KGAUK "Yenisei Cinema".

Directorate of the Film Festival received more than 2,500 applications for participation, which is one and a half times more than for the II International Film Festival for Children and Youth “Hero”, which took place in 2022. In 2024, number of participating countries will be more than 115, including Russia.

The Festival’s competitive and non-competitive program of the III International Film Festival for Children and Youth “Hero” will contain professional works of national and foreign filmmakers, such as full-length and short feature films, animation films, and documentaries.

During the days of the Film Festival, master classes, creative meetings, lectures for children and teenagers with the presence of Russian and foreign guests and speakers, special events for early career guidance and media education in the Krasnoyarsk Territory are planned. As part of the business program, a round table with reputable representatives of the film industry will be held.

Cinemas of the Festival cities will have an exclusive opportunity to demonstrate the best Russian and foreign films of the competition program. The majority of the full-length competing films will be presented personally by their filmmakers. The venues of the Festival will be cultural facilities, libraries, and cinemas.

Within the framework of the non-competition program of the Festival, the following special programs will be presented:

  • Program dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of Victor Astafiev consisting of documentary films about the Siberian writer and feature films based on his stories;
  • Program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Belarusian cinema, including the best examples of films for children and youth, shot by the studio over a century-old history;
  • Program of films from Yenisei Kino film stock presented at the historical building of the company in the city of Krasnoyarsk.

Upon completion of the “Hero” Festival, the traditional Echo of the International Festival will take place, meaning that the selected films will be presented all around the Krasnoyarsk Territory for a month. Эхо Международного фестиваля в кинозалах по всему Красноярскому краю в течение месяца показывают избранные кинокартины.

INFORMATION on "Hero" Festival

The Film Festival was first organized in 2018, when it was first held as an All-Russian event. It received the status of an international festival in 2020.

For the third time, the Festival has a cinema school, students of which will become active participants in the teenager discussion club after screenings and discussion of the competition films. Let us remind you that in 2022 and 2023 the trainings in the cinema school already took place and some graduates continued their education in higher educational institutions of the country and abroad in the field of the film industry. During the Festival, special premiere screenings of films made by cinema school participants will be held.
